Richmond Hill, Georgia...
"A wonderful Coastal Community to Call Home"
Richmond Hill is a thriving historic community situated approximately 30 miles from historic downtown Savannah and approximately 20 minutes from the Savannah-Hilton Head Airport.
Known as a "Five Star" community, Richmond Hill features coastal rivers to include the "Great Ogeechee River", Medway, Belfast, Jerico and Tivoli Rivers with access to the intracoastal waterway via the Atlantic Ocean, nature preservations, a state park known as "Fort McAllister State Park" for camping, fishing and kyaking, a community park "Gregory Park " which is great for walking, jogging or attending musical and coastal art events, a great public school system and there are a host of other reasons why many individuals have elected to call Richmond Hill home.
If you are an avid fisherman, you will enjoy Richmond Hill's newly updated marina and the public boat ramps which includes hoisting facilities, boat storage and fishing bait. You and your family may wish to take time to enjoy the area's coastal barrier islands which are located nearby such as Owsabaw, Wassaw and St. Catherine. Please be sure to take care of our beautiful beaches and the natural vegetation. If you stop by "It's Five O'clock" at the marina you may hear many fish tails and believe it or not some of them are true!
For the golfer's Richmond Hill offers two public courses, the "New" Richmond Hill Plantation Course known as "Sterling Links" and the course at Waterford Landing Golf Club which has been a long-time favorite for area golfers. There are an abundant amount of public courses throughout the area to include the Sapelo, Southbridge, Crosswinds, Henderson and Bacon Park as well as private courses to include but not limited to the Savannah Golf Club, Westbrook, and Wilmington Island Golf Club. Of course, Hilton Head courses are also approximately 45 minutes away.
While Richmond Hill has numerous restaurants, you are only a few minutes away from some of the finest dining in the U.S. Historic Savannah features many white table dining restaurants as well as dining in relaxed settings.
Richmond Hill also features an exclusive private gated community, The Ford Plantation, which was once a second home to the automotive tycoon Henry Ford and his wife Clara. The community features a private golf course, equesterine center, marina, private club, spa and much more.
If you are just dropping in to visit, you may wish to stop by the Richmond Hill Welcome Center which is located on Ford Avenue, formerly a kindergarten constructed by Henry Ford. You will see many of Henry Ford's lasting memories throughout our beautiful coastal community.
Hopefully, you will enjoy some of the beautiful scenery, historic homes, churches and cemeteries during your visit to Richmond Hill.
